Carrie Menet, OD

Dr. Carrie Menet, OD has been serving patients in the Cedar Valley since she and her family moved to the area in 2017.  She believes that eye care and healthy eyes are vital to a person’s overall health and quality of life.  She feels privileged and blessed to be able to provide eye care services to help enhance that quality of life.  Dr. Menet is grateful to be in a field of healthcare that allows her to improve a person’s vision through maintenance of good ocular health.  She enjoys spending time with patients and getting to know them so that she is better able to understand their visual needs and provide the best vision correction options and ocular health plan for that person’s specific needs.

Dr. Menet is especially interested in ocular disease.  She is skilled at diagnosing and treating numerous eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, iritis, and ocular emergencies such as foreign body removal.  She is experienced in surgical co-management of ocular procedures including cataract and glaucoma surgeries.  Dr. Menet also specializes in and enjoys pediatric eye exams.  Through diagnosing and treating common eye conditions often found in young children, Dr. Menet can help children receive the appropriate glasses prescription needed to improve vision and learning.  Dr. Menet also provides vision correction through the fitting of contact lenses.  She is experienced in fitting a variety of contacts and is especially interested in fitting multifocal contact lenses for patients who are in need of bifocals.

Dr. Menet grew up in Okarche, Oklahoma and moved to the Midwest after graduating from optometry school.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Oklahoma State University in 2005.  She then attended Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2009.  While in optometry school, Dr. Menet was honored to be recognized by her professors in her senior year when she was awarded the Golden Retinoscope Award for Outstanding Clinical Excellence and was named top of her graduating class.

Dr. Menet moved to Iowa when her husband, David Menet, was called to be the pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Waterloo.  They have four children – Henry, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Moses – whom they enjoy homeschooling.  She also enjoys bicycling with her family, attending church activities, baking, and crafting.  Dr. Carrie Menet is very excited to be a part of Advanced Family Eye Care where the goal is to serve the patient and to provide the very best comprehensive eye care.
